Water Heaters

water_heater_img1The solar hot water system is designed to operate automatically, taking advantage of solar energy when it is available.

The system will turn on when solar energy can be added to the water heater. The solar controller will activate the circulation module which will push water up to the solar collector(s) and begin circulation. When solar energy becomes unavailable or when heated water is not required, the system will turn off and all water will gravity drain into the drainback tank so the water cannot freeze on your roof or in your attic.

  • Over 5 times more efficient at capturing the sun’s energy and converting it to usable power than photovoltaic (PV) systems
  • Cleanest, safest and quietest source of energy
  • Solar energy does not produce any greenhouse emissions
  • Lowest operational costs (energy is free from the sun)
  • Lowest maintenance costs (minimal)
  • Longer lifespan due to fewer moving parts and no corrosion

Federal Tax Credits for Solar Domestic Hot Water Heaters Extended Through December 31, 2016!

Available for systems placed into service between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2016

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT), signed by President Bush on August 8, 2005, offers consumers and businesses federal tax credits beginning in January 2006 for purchasing fuel-efficient hybrid-electric vehicles and energy-efficient appliances and products. Most of these tax credits remain in effect through 2016.

Consumers who purchase and install specific products, such as energy-efficient windows, insulation, doors, roofs, and heating and cooling equipment in the home can receive a tax credit of up to $500 beginning in January 2006.

The EPACT also provides a credit equal to 30% of qualifying expenditures for purchase for qualified photovoltaic property and for solar water heating property used exclusively for purposes other than heating swimming pools and hot tubs. The credit shall not exceed $2000.

Improvements must be installed in or on the taxpayer’s principal residence in the United States. Home improvement tax credits apply for improvements made between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2016.
